This canyon was discovered in 2004 and became a national protected monument in 2006. It is located 15 minutes west of the town of Somoto The Somoto Canyon is one of oldest rock formations in Central America and has become a main attraction of Northern Nicaragua since its discovery in 2004. It spans over 420 acres with the vertical walls over 120 metres high that go on for about 5 miles. At some points these cliffs are only 5 metres from each other. The wildlife and flora fill your adventure with sight, sound, colour and fragrance. The clear fresh water is inviting for a swim as you wind your way through the serpentine waterway
