Ometepe is a small island in the middle of Nicaragua Lake. To get to Ometepe you can take a ferry from San Jorge or a boat from San Juan del Sur or Rivas.  Two volcanoes dominate the landscape.  It is a backpacker’s haven. You can conquer the volcanic peaks, swim in the waterfalls, kayak the rivers or soak in the natural springs. It is recommended that you rent a scooter/motorcycle, bicycle or hire push-bikes to get around this large island.
